Jarrett Bay Boatworks Photography
Jarrett Bay Boatworks recently launched their newest build. Hull number 64 is a 68’ convertible named Renegade. Due to weather and timing of the boat delivery, we did a quick photo and video shoot in the Neuse River north of Adam’s Creek in the middle of the day. The freezing temperatures and high noon sun presented us with a lot of challenges for capturing good shots but when your subject looks like this, you mostly just need to make sure she’s in focus:

Happy New Year
One of my favorite family traditions: We go to bed early on New Years Eve, wake up early on the 1st and watch the first sunrise of the year.
There is zero chance staying up until midnight and sleeping in the next day is better than this.

Cover Photo - 2025 Gregory Poole Marine Calendar

Behind the Scenes with Builders Choice and Gregory Poole Marine
Jarrett Bay hull no. 59 “Builders Choice” is hauled out of the water for a full repower with Caterpillar C32B engines. This boat will also be getting a few cosmetic updates including a full paint job and updated teak work. We are producing a story about this project for Gregory Poole Marine which will be completed in April of 2025. Here are few behind the scenes shots from last week’s shoot:

Portrait Photography + Interview
One of my favorite on-going projects for Jarrett Bay Boatworks is the Employee Spotlights. Every month a new employee is chosen to be highlighted. Sometimes they are long time employees with a lot of experience and sometimes they are brand new. I usually spend 5 minutes talking with them about their job and advice for the next generation of boat builders. I end by grabbing a few portraits of them. This month we interviewed Ed Campbell and his advice was worth sharing.
"Before coming to Jarrett Bay, I spent 40 years teaching industrial arts in high school, where I helped students learn how to work with their hands. Working alongside the talented team at Jarrett Bay, seeing them shape wood into something functional and beautiful, reminds me of why I loved teaching. I truly feel blessed to be a small part of this team. My advice to the younger generation would be to take pride in what you do, keep your sense of humor and appreciate the people you work with—it makes all the difference."
